Gary R. Huffman is a partner in the Washington, DC office of McKee Nelson LLP. His practice focuses on tax planning, with a particular emphasis on partnerships and natural resources. Prior to joining McKee Nelson, Gary was a partner with Ernst & Young's National Tax Department.

Throughout his career, Gary has been engaged in an active transactional practice with particular focus on structured financings involving partnerships and, oftentimes, natural resources. Much of this time has been spent in the structuring and marketing of publicly traded partnerships. More recently, Gary's practice has focused on applying partnership techniques in large corporate acquisitions, dispositions and strategic alliances (both domestic and international). Before his time at Ernst & Young, Gary was a partner at Andrews & Kurth in Houston, Texas. Gary is an adjunct professor in the Georgetown University Graduate Tax Program, teaching advanced partnership taxation, and is a frequent lecturer and contributor to legal publications. He is the author of several articles, including "Application of Final and Proposed Section 197 Regulations to Partnership Transactions" (2000 Practicing Law Institute, Volume 2) and "Analysis of the Administration's Partnership Proposals" (Tax Notes, Volume 84, Number 1).

Gary received his J.D., Order of the Coif, from the University of Texas, and his B.S. in accountancy with high honors from the University of Illinois.
