Martha Benson has worked in the not-for-profit industry for the past 20 years as auditor, administrator, author, professor, board member, officer, volunteer, and conference speaker. Prior positions include audit manager with Arthur Andersen, CFO of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and the Meadows Foundation, and Visiting Assistant Professor at Franklin & Marshall College and at the University of Pennsylvania. One of her favorite research topics is accounting standards for and financial reporting by nonprofit organizations, and as a past committee member of the American Institute of CPA’s Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee, she got first-hand experience with standard setting for this industry. A frequent speaker, her list of publications includes articles in the Journal of Accountancy, as well as four books on accounting for nonprofit organizations. |
