International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) issued by the IASB are designed as a common global language for business affairs so that company accounts are understandable and comparable across international boundaries. Since 2007, IFRSs have been allowed for use by foreign issuers in the US, and there is an ongoing dialogue about the potential incorporation of IFRSs into the US domestic reporting system.
